Job Description                                 Associate Technical Architect

About the job:

The Associate Architect takes on a leadership role in the practice across multiple projects.  Their role involves using and improving their management skills through managing and leading their teams.  They ensure timely delivery of the project, meet client expectations, and follow all international and local codes and standards. They are also responsible for the performance of their projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple projects and manage the teams in charge of them.
  • Conduct research to stay abreast of design areas of interest for yourself and the strategic areas of design for the practice. Share research with the office.
  • Take the project brief from the client, oversee the writing, or write the project brief.
  • Strive for design excellence, creative solutions, and innovative and practical design ideas.
  • Lead the design management of the project. Manage the team’s design input to be coherent throughout, thorough, and up to standards.
  • Review plans submitted by subcontractors to ensure adherence to codes and standards.
  • Ensure that the assigned projects have a dedicated design management plan setting out the BIM execution/strategy (if applicable), deliverables list, program, resource profile, team tasks, and sub-consultant management and coordination.
  • Lead on and prepare presentations of design to clients; display visual and verbal clarity of communication.
  • Determine solutions, methods, and procedures on assignments to deliver products and services.
  • Manage the coordination of design using Navisworks and other coordination software.
  • Understand and implement project management principles and be able to work within project budgets which includes fees and designing to construction budget.
  • Produce drawings by company guidelines and within project deadlines under supervision.
  • Perform personal QA/QC checks of own work and drawings before presenting for review.\

Personal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Masters is a plus.
  • 15+ years of experience in architectural design, with a progression of responsibilities and leadership roles.
  • Previous experience in managing and overseeing the design process for a variety of projects.
  • Excellent design skills
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Solid software skills – 3D design, Sketchup, InDesign, and Microsoft Office highly regarded.
  • Hand sketching skills desirable
  • Proficiency in Familiar with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Member of UAE Society of Engineers. Registration with the home country’s professional body is highly regarded.

Project Management training desirable.
