Job Description
The Contracts & Commercial Manager is responsible for leading, managing & administering the project contract & QS aspects from start to end in addition to Contracts Administration, Tender Management, Project Commercial Management, Variations, and Claims Management, and supporting Bid Management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create, prepare, review, and negotiate all contracts and consultancy agreements.
- Create and maintain relationships with Clients and sub-consultants and serve as the point of contact for matters concerning contracts.
- Analyze all requirements and provisions in contracts, including terms and conditions, to ensure compliance with laws & regulations and company policies & procedures.
- Review and validate scopes and deliverables as per RIBA / AIA standards for projects.
- Maintain records for correspondence and documentation about established contracts and those in progress.
- Administer all active contracts and move forward with close-outs, extensions, and variations wherever applicable.
- Solve any contract-related problems that may arise with clients or sub-consultants or any service provider.
- Manage and track all contracts’ processes and procedures.
- Sound knowledge of scheduling in MS Project & Prime Vera preferred.
- Present project updates & reports to senior management periodically.
- Ensure a project risk register is compiled, relevant, and maintained.
- Be aware of client and sub-consultant invoices and when payments are made and received.
- Closely track the project’s financial aspects (earnings and expenses, invoicing and collections, payments to subs).
- Support in bidding management and review of all relative contractual and legal documents.
- Conduct and record the Prequalification of the contractors.
- Send invitations to shortlisted contractors for Bidding.
- Prepare Tender Volumes and Instructions to Tenderers.
- Response to Tender queries, issue addendums and post tender clarification.
- Ensure Technical and commercial evaluation of the bids and recommendation of the contractor.
- Prepare Contract documents for the selected contractor.
- Support the construction supervision team in the administration of the clients’-contractors’ contracts.
- Reviews and challenges information received from contractors to ensure quality compliance.
Personal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Management, or related field.
- Member of UAE Society Engineers & AIA (preferred) and PMI (highly regarded). Registration with the home country’s professional body is highly regarded.
- Knowledge of Project Management, Prince 2 would be an advantage.
- Must be structured and organized.
- Experienced in dealing with confrontation, to gain win/win situations.
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral, and written communication skills including extensive presentation/reporting skills.
- Numerate with good commercial acumen.
- An extensive knowledge of the development and management of operational support contracts.
- A strong knowledge of Service Management.
