Role: Project Director

 Company: An international multidisciplinary architecture consultancy offering a unique portfolio of architecture, planning, engineering, and Project Management. The company specializes in large Hospitality projects and high-end villas.

Job Description: The Project Director is a senior leadership role within our architectural company, responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of architectural projects from inception to completion. This position requires exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of architectural design, construction processes, and project management.

Project Leadership

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for architectural projects, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and goals.
  • Collaborate with the design and technical teams to establish project objectives, scope, and deliverables.
  • Set project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation in coordination with project managers.
  • Client Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, objectives, and expectations.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and managing their feedback throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Planning

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, outlining project phases, milestones, and tasks.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project execution.
  • Allocate resources effectively to achieve project goals while maintaining budget and timeline constraints.
  • Overall management of projects.

Team Management

  • Lead and mentored cross-functional teams, including architects, designers, engineers, and project managers.
  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Responsible for client management and the performance of project teams.

Design Oversight

  • Review and approve architectural designs, ensuring they meet project requirements, industry standards, and client preferences.
  • Provide guidance on design concepts, aesthetics, and functionality, balancing artistic vision with practical considerations.
  • Reviews RFPs (Request for Proposals) prepares and/or reviews tender proposals and submissions.
  • Preparation of project briefs.
  • Establishes projects’ scope and objectives.
  • Preparation of progress reports.
  • Organizes and implements presentations of designs to clients.
  • Preparation and maintenance of project programs.
  • Preparation and maintenance of programs or project design reviews and ensuring their implementation.
  • Sets out and agrees on design standards and parameters.
  • Preparation of design changes.
  • Responsible for the consistency and coordination of project teams’ deliverables.
  • Monitors all architectural and engineering works to ensure the correct design process is followed and quality targets are being achieved.

Quality Control

  • Implement quality assurance processes to maintain the highest standards of architectural design and construction.
  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure that projects adhere to established guidelines and deliverables.
  • Communication
  • Effectively communicate project updates, status reports, and relevant information to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Address any project-related challenges or concerns in a timely and transparent manner.

Financial Management

  • Monitor project budgets, expenses, and financial performance, making adjustments as necessary to ensure profitability.
  • Appointments and briefing of all required sub-consultants for projects.
  • Updates project risk registers and reviews them with the Managing Director as required.
  • Reviews deliverables against the resource schedules and programs to ensure resource capabilities and densities are optimal.
  • Responsible for resource monitoring and resource planning of projects.
  • Reviews and revises project organization structures as required.
  • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and other financial documents related to the projects.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure that architectural projects comply with relevant codes, regulations, and standards in the construction industry.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance project management processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in architecture and project management.
  • Other duties and tasks as may be required, assigned, and/or instructed by the Managing Director.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or a related field.
  • Minimum 10-12 yrs. of experience or more.
  • Must have 5 star hotel experience – high-end residential villas experience a plus
  • Travel to Europe will be required – so preferrable for those with a visa easy passport.
  • A strong charactered individual who can handle a team
  • Proven track record of successful project management in the architecture industry.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of architectural design principles, construction methods, and materials.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Has led a team of a minimum of 5 or more.
